Sunrise Adventure Session at Pilot Mountain with Mackenzie & Joey.
Most of the time I’m not a morning person. However, as you may have read in one of my previous posts, some locations just work better in the early hours of the day. For Mackenzie and Joey’s session, we knew exactly what we wanted while discussing locations. We wanted scenery, space to have fun, but also a lot of really pretty light. Pilot Mountain is a close-to-home, yet super beautiful location that offers everything for photos. It’s also a sure chance for morning exercise, hiking all over the summit trails and taking photos as we go!
This Sunrise Adventure Session at Pilot Mountain actually started off a little different than usual. I tend to get to this location RIGHT as the gate opens. This way, my couple and I can make the most of the space with minimal people in those scenic areas. Well, the …let’s call them the *gate keeper*… was about 30 min late to opening the park. I mean that’s fine, I’m patient. However, it did throw us a little extra challenge. This meant we needed to move quickly to the top of the summit. This way, we start shooting before the line of cars that amassed made their way to our photo areas too!
A new challenge at the top of the summit:
When we made it to the top, (thank goodness you can drive to the summit rather than hike …for time purposes), I was greeted with a new surprise! Heavy construction was blocking the overlook I really love to photograph. I was SO bummed! Only for a moment though. Even though I didn’t get to take them to my favorite spot at the park due to construction, we did get to enjoy all the other beautiful parts that Pilot Mountain has to offer. In fact, the added challenge of the overlook not being accessible actually made me find new places to photograph with beautiful light!
I really enjoyed getting to know Mackenzie and Joey and I think their session really highlights how much fun and love their relationship holds. Enjoy!
