This intimate ceremony at Powel Crosley Estate made mega photo goals happen for me. I’m originally from Tampa and being from there,I’ve had the honor of photographing a ton of beautiful locations. Even so, I’ve always wanted to photograph a wedding at Sarasota’s Powel Crosley Estate. This session made that happen! Although I didn’t ever think it would occur quite like this, I’m grateful for the outcome of otherwise crummy circumstances.
Wait, let me explain…
The beautiful couple you’ll see in the images below were supposed to have a big, fun wedding at the St. Pete Yacht Club. After rescheduling once before and realizing the current Covid-19 restrictions would still be in place upon their new date, the couple decided to cancel the big wedding. Luckily, Cassidy & Scott were very open to my suggestion of celebrating their wedding nuptials anyway. We would make something happen, big wedding or not.
Firstly, you should know the couple got married via a civil ceremony on their original wedding date. They decided not to have a photographer present for that event due to the early stages of Covid-19 and all the unknowns that came with it. Considering this fact, I had an idea. I conjured the thought of a real wedding day experience on a very intimate level.
The New Game Plan:
They would still have a venue, we’d do detail photos and get ready images. After that, a real first look would take place. This worked out perfectly since the couple still hadn’t been able to wear their wedding day attire. Finally, I suggested we do a vow reading. Civil ceremonies are beautiful for what they are, but I love the personal touch of written vows that a couple can share with one another. We basically made a day happen from scratch. Cassidy’s hair and makeup team, Style Hair and Makeup, made sure her she had the bridal look of her dreams. The couples florist Beneva Flowers out of Sarasota, constructed the most beautiful bridal bouquet and floral installation for their vow reading. Myself and their videographer, Chris Ramos, made it our goal to give them a great experience even without their beloved guests.
My personal favorite part of the day was when portraits were over. We were walking back to the venue to clean up when I saw the gorgeous lighting strung across the patio of Powel Crosley. With that, I asked the couple what their first dance was supposed to be and I played it on my speaker. The couple still shared their first dance and that was the end of a beautiful evening.
What if you find yourself in the same situation?
My hope for you is this. Even if you end up having to change your plans due to the current situation we are living with the pandemic, don’t be discouraged! I would be happy to help you STILL have the perfect day because LOVE is not cancelled. Reach out and let’s make that magic happen!
