When Cheyenne reached out to me about her North Carolina Elopement, I thought two things. Firstly, I thought about how beautiful her story with Marshall (now husb) was and I was eagerly hoping she would choose me to photograph this moment for them. On the other hand, I told myself “even if she ends up booking someone else, I really want to be friends with her”. Cheyenne has a way of communicating that makes people feel seen and loved even before you’ve ever met her. Her willingness to let me in on such intimate details of her life gave us a quick connection to one another. It reminded me that the internet is a pretty awesome space for meeting wonderful people.

I was elated when Cheyenne asked me to photograph her elopement. This was a true elopement. I mean, I was the ONLY guest other than her officiant! Her officiant was the wonderful Reverend Jane, who performed a perfect ceremony reading at the elopement!

INCLEMATE WEATHER AHEAD:

Let’s talk about this day before the vows took place, though. When we woke up the morning of their elopement, North Carolina was facing it’s stormiest day of the year. I’m talking, the rain was so intense that my 100+ year old home was raining INSIDE! This was happening as I was trying to get ready for to leave for the elopement. My leaky home was stressful, but I threw down some towels, kissed my kittoz and hoped for the best. Then, I went about, grabbing my rain jacket, boots and clear umbrella’s for photos and darted out the door.

Life has granted me these ‘miracle moments’ so many times that I’m not sure what I did to deserve it…so I always defer to the miracle’s being for my couples who are so deserving of happiness and beautiful days. The rain which was destroying the ceiling of my home and stopping traffic only minutes before began to lighten up! By the time I reached Moore’s Spring Manor, where the elopement was taking place, the storm was gone and then sun even began to shine!

The evening took a turn for the best, giving Cheyenne and Marshall the ceremony they so deserved. These precious memories between the two of them, and me as the #onlyweddingguest, will be forever engrained on my heart. I hope you enjoy these images as a peek into what is such a beautiful showcase of their love for one another.
